Alex Moura is the co-founder and CEO of Digital Star Marketing. He has more than 17 years in digital marketing and has run more than 40 album campaigns, including a dozen for Todd Snider in one year. His work spans insurtech, SaaS, retail, food and beverage, sports and music. He plans the strategy and does the work himself: the creative, the ads, the websites, the email and the numbers.
Music
Alex has worked in music as an in-house marketing lead and as a consultant who runs the campaigns himself. His work covers album releases, tours, festivals, online stores, music videos and artwork, with AEG Presents, Live Nation, festivals and venues.

How he got started
In 2007 Alex put the Widespread Panic Spread Sheet online, a fan-made version of the band's own working song list that he updated by hand after every show. After he moved to the Bay Area in 2012, a tweet got him invited to Bob Weir's TRI Studios in San Rafael, California. Dave Schools already knew the site and introduced him to Bob Weir as Widespread Panic's statistician.
At TRI he helped produce episodes of Weir Here and worked on records Dave Schools produced, including sessions with Steve Kimock and Jerry Joseph. The fan archive that grew out of the Spread Sheet is still running at Burnthday.com.
Beyond music
These days Alex works closely with founders, mostly after a Series A, leading go-to-market strategy and doing the work with a small, senior team. He has helped companies 10x lead volume, cut customer acquisition cost by more than 90% and go from MVP to a scalable go-to-market plan in under 90 days.
- Fractional CMO for the insurtech startups Rainbow and Functional Finance, with complete go-to-market plans.
- Universal Printing: designer, brand lead and builder of the website and HubSpot quote system for a print and fulfillment company serving pharma, life sciences and enterprise clients.
- Brands and events including Alabama Football, Airstream, Gundlach Bundschu Winery, Crimson Tide Cruise and La Crosse Distilling Co.
- HubSpot: one of its original Enterprise customers and now a longtime partner, building CRM and automation systems through every stage of the product.
