How the preview is measured
We showed real ads in a signed-out ChatGPT session, read the card’s sizes and fonts from the page, and measured the same card at 360, 375, 390, 412 and 430 points wide and on desktop, in dark and light. The card is the screen width less 32 on a phone, 440 on desktop. The headline gets 1 line and the description 2.
The cut is worked out from the width of every letter in Apple’s system font, so it is the same on any computer. Ads Manager’s own form gave the limits: it counts the headline against 32 and the description against 54, warns that a headline past 32 “may be truncated”, and stops at 50 and 100. The image rules are OpenAI’s: PNG or JPG, square, 640 to 1200 pixels.
What it does not cover: the ChatGPT phone apps, which may draw the card their own way; we have not measured them. Android phones and Windows computers use their own fonts, so a cut there can land a few letters away.
