Rainbow
INSURANCE 100% BUILT FOR RESTAURANTS
Rainbow entered a crowded market with a bold idea: a usage-based insurance product built specifically for food service businesses. Instead of hiring an in-house team, founder Bobby Touran partnered with Digital Star to move quickly, gaining C-level insurance marketing expertise and full execution support from day one. The result was immediate: early agent traction, strong brand credibility, and a clear message that drove measurable revenue growth.
Building a fast foundation for success.
Rainbow’s flexible coverage met a long-standing need in the restaurant space. In under a year, they expanded beyond Texas and Arizona into more than 20 states, launched new lines of business, and built a network of 4,000+ appointed agents. The foundation came together quickly, without an internal marketing team — guided only by bi-weekly check-ins with the C-suite. That early momentum put Rainbow on track to reach hundreds of millions in written premium across restaurant, beauty, and wellness verticals.

_______
Getting agents appointed through strategic marketing.
We worked with Rainbow to build a go-to-market strategy centered on agent distribution. Our team developed a clear value proposition, built the lead gen system, and wrote the messaging that helped Rainbow earn trust from day one. We created a lead magnet followed by a six-part email series, giving agents clear reasons to engage and the support to start writing policies. We positioned Rainbow’s team as experienced and relatable, with a brand that felt built by agents, for agents. Behind the scenes, we handled campaign targeting, website optimization, and the full HubSpot setup used to capture and convert every lead.
Our Approach
Hands-on execution, start to scale.
We started with research including competitor analysis, persona mapping, and interviews with real agents. That insight shaped the entire execution plan. We handled positioning, CRM implementation, custom workflows, and a full content system designed to educate and convert. Personalized email sequences, landing pages, and in-platform CRO made every interaction purposeful. Our team ran ongoing working sessions with Rainbow’s leadership and adjusted quickly as results came in, delivering a system that could grow fast and perform at scale.

_______
A new market leader.
Rainbow gained traction and built credibility just as fast. The systems we built gave their team everything they needed to scale without growing headcount. They raised a $12 million Series A from top investors including Caffeinated Capital, Altai Ventures, and Arch Capital. National press followed, with coverage in The Insurer, Carrier Management, Coverager, and Insurance Insider US. What started as a fast, focused launch became a foundation for long-term growth and recognition across the industry.

_______
A modern insurance option agents love.
Rainbow’s product stood out. The Pay-As-You-Go BOP offered flexibility restaurants hadn’t seen before, and Rainbow Rewards gave agents a way to earn and retain more business. We helped define the story behind these features and guided the team through every step of proving it out.
Testimonials came in early, and quick policy wins gave the team something to talk about. We provided the creative direction and messaging structure, but also tactical support on what to promote, when to promote it, and how to scale what worked.
Agents saw other agents winning. That created momentum, and what started as interest quickly turned into confidence. As Bobby Touran put it, “Digital Star was invaluable in helping us raise awareness in a noisy marketplace. They were hands-on, creative and thoughtful at every step.”

The Outcomes
Rainbow became a new benchmark for how to launch and scale a specialized insurance product. In under a year, they appointed thousands of agents, expanded nationally, launched a new line of coverage, and kept customer acquisition costs at just $88 per agent. That traction helped secure a $12 million Series A and positioned Rainbow for continued vertical growth.
As a digitally-enabled MGA, Rainbow delivered a product built for the real needs of small business owners and a platform agents could use instantly. The brand earned trust early, and demand followed.
Digital Star supported every part of the go-to-market motion — from messaging and paid media to onboarding, automation, and lead conversion. The systems and strategy we put in place also set up Rainbow’s first and only marketing hire with a clear, repeatable playbook to support long-term growth.
